October Kid and Coach of the Month

This is some text inside of a div block.

Our Coach of the Month is Eliza, a 3rd-year undergraduate student at the University of Iowa studying public health with a minor in global health studies. She has been a coach and member of the Healthy LifeStars Student Advisory Council for the past two semesters and quickly became involved as a treasurer and graphic designer.Eliza says, “When I changed my major to public health, I was looking for a way to get involved with local organizations in the community. I heard about Healthy LifeStars from a friend and discovered quickly that their mission of educating and inspiring kids aligned with my personal passion for living a healthy lifestyle. Healthy LifeStars is important to me because I want to improve the overall health of my local community and prevent chronic conditions starting with kids!

This semester I have been working as a remote student due to the pandemic. I was really bummed about not being able to connect with kids on a personal level at various schools in the Iowa City area. However, I have been able to stay involved with Healthy LifeStars since the pandemic started. I produce weekly educational materials through graphic design to come up with eye-catching social media content. In addition, I am the treasurer for the University of Iowa Healthy LifeStars club on campus. It is my goal to continue to inspire kids to make healthy life choices despite the barriers this year has brought.

I am looking forward to my ongoing work with Healthy LifeStars as we continue to progress through the COVID-19 pandemic. I am working hard to keep kids engaged with our programming through additional online materials."
